Bjk1 civilization proposal

Civilization project
What challenge/goal/question will drive your work? What are you creating/making/producing?
My challenge/goal I am going towards is screen casting, I am creating sequence of videos about the game: Civilization

  1. Script/storyboard/outline/plan BEFORE recording a second of footage.
    • Have a point/purpose/skill/theme for each episode
  2. Cut out the boring parts with no action that the audience has already seen.
  3. Don't make the video too long.
  4. Don't make it boring, make it seem like your doing it for entertainment, not because you have to.
  5. When you edit, change some sound effects.
  6. Don't keep on showing repetitive parts.
  7. Show the planning parts because the audience will need to see it.
  8. Give tips and tricks.
  9. Make a good ending that is fitting.
  10. Don't make the video quality bad.
  11. Don't record in loud areas, Don't have background noise.
  12. Make a separate YouTube channel for this project
  13. Promote my channel and get over 1000 hits (likes count as 5, comments count as 10)
I expect to learn about screen casting because I don't know a lot about it.
I will be challenged because I am not used to screen casting and I want my project to be good enough to get a lot of hits.
I need macbook 11 because that is the only one with Civilization.
YouTube account
Main Steps:
  1. Gather samples of screencasts with good elements
  2. Create a Top 10 Screencasting Tips page
  3. For each video I will
    • Plan
    • Capture
    • Edit
    • Publish
      • Title
      • Description
    • Promote
    • Reflect on how to make the next one better and add tips to my Screencasting Tips page

Here is where I will put all of my episodes

  • List possible resources/sources of inspiration to complete this project. Are there existing examples of the sort of project you want to complete? Has anyone else done a similar project in Thinkering Studio? What words did you search the wiki for when checking?
  • Youtube
  • The other group doing this project
  • Who/what will be your "teacher"? (Outside expert, in class expert, book, video(s), website(s), Mr. Whitmer, experimenting, experience, etc.) Make sure your "teacher" is included in your steps.
  • Youtube
  • The other group doing this project
  • How will you develop your PLN (personal learning network)?
  • Whenever other people want to do this project, I can help them and then whoever i helped sees someone struggling, that person can help them, and the it's a big chain reaction.
What parts of this project might be difficult? How do you expect to handle them?
I am not used to screen casting.
How might your project fail? (Conduct a pre-mortem)
Sharing/Teaching/Paying It Forward
  • How will you share what you have learned/created/made/produced with others?
  • I will post my Screen casts on Youtube.
  • Who is your target audience?
  • Anyone that is willing to watch
How will you/your group define the projects success? How will you know that your “good” is “good enough”?
When I feel like I have done enough video's so that people have learned.
How should we evaluate your success?
When people that have watched it learned form it.
How will that be "visible" to others? (Demonstrate) Can your progress be measured throughout the project?
(Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas or possibly Rubistar.)
Design your own rubric.
“What are you making?” “Why are you making this?” and “Who is it for?”
