Thinkering Studio Project Proposal

Title:
Sophia's Calligraphy Proposal
Member(s):
Ellie Cook
Challenge:
What challenge/goal/question will drive your work? A; I am a beginner in Calligraphy right now, I am going to work towards the goal of being advanced and writing full sentences. What are you creating/making/producing? A; I would be drawing sentences and words in calligraphy and maybe are posters or drawings of people.
Challenge Starters & Examples
Learning:
What do you expect to learn? A; How to properly learn the art of calligraphy and write in calligraphy. / Why are you making this? A; I've always been interested in calligraphy but I've never tried to learn it.
How will you be challenged? A; I don't have any prior experience in calligraphy so it might be challenging trying to write out full words/ sentences.
How will this stretch you? A; it might have me look at writing differently, and improve my cursive handwriting. (Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas.)
Materials:
Calligraphy pens, mini ink cartridges, Ink bottles, beginner books for calligraph. I will find these items online and purchase them.
Main Steps:
  • Purchase all items listed above, and watch videos on calligraphy for beginners.
  • I will document my practice in books that I will purchase made for beginners.
  • Me and Ellie are doing it separately but we will come together when we have accomplished writing sentences or if we have questions we think we can answer.
  • The questions I need to be answered are, Is this project going to take up the rest of the year? Is this project going to take time out of school? If Mr.Bugelli leaves who will I have as a resource? Im going to start off observing and understanding then prototyping and finally testing.
Time:
2 quarters or the rest of the year.
Resources:
  • List possible resources/sources of inspiration to complete this project. Are there existing examples of the sort of project you want to complete? Has anyone else done a similar project in Thinkering Studio? What words did you search the wiki for when checking?
  • Who/what will be your "teacher"? (Outside expert, in class expert, book, video(s), website(s), Mr. Whitmer, experimenting, experience, etc.) Make sure your "teacher" is included in your steps.
  • How will you develop your PLN (personal learning network)?
Difficulties:
What parts of this project might be difficult? How do you expect to handle them?
How might your project fail? (Conduct a pre-mortem)
Sharing:
Sharing/Teaching/Paying It Forward
  • How will you share what you have learned/created/made/produced with others?
  • Who is your target audience?
Evaluation:
How will you/your group define the projects success? How will you know that your “good” is “good enough”?
How should we evaluate your success?
How will that be "visible" to others? (Demonstrate) Can your progress be measured throughout the project?
(Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas or possibly Rubistar.)
Design your own rubric.
“What are you making?” “Why are you making this?” and “Who is it for?”
