Thinkering Studio Project Proposal

Title:
Learning Soccer Skills
Member(s):
Ben W, Gabe A, Shane G.
Challenge:
We are going to learn more about soccer and also post videos to youtube with us doing fun soccer related activities outside. We are going to learn more of the strategies behind the game also.
Learning:
What do you expect to learn? We expect to learn and improve our soccer skills. We are also planning to learn how to make a good video and video tape quality videos. We also will learn the skills to video tape correctly we will have to learn how to get good angles. We will also need to learn how to focus the camera and get the right amount of zoom on it.
How will you be challenged? We will be challenged since Shane is horrible at soccer, and Ben and Gabe are just ok at soccer
How will this stretch you? (Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas.) This will stretch us by the temperatures outside until it warms up. Also, we don't know that much about soccer. One of the main difficulties in this project will be since Shane is inexpierienced at soccer.
Materials:
List your materials/resources and who will be providing them. If they need to be purchased, include the price. Ben and Gabe will bring their soccer balls. The three of us will all bring our cleats once it is warm outside but while it is cold and snowy our regular shoes will suffice. We will also bring a video camera and a tripod.
Main Steps:
Outline the main steps to complete your project or provide a link to another site that has the steps. Below the link explain any additional steps you need to complete.
1. We will watch f2 freestlyer videos and other youtube channels to learn tricks and skills
2. Practice
3. Post videos of our progress
4. Post descriptions of what we did.
How will you document your process/progress beyond your journal entries? We will document our progress through videos and descriptions of the videos on our page.
If this is not an individual project, how will you work together so that all are learning/working equal to their abilities? Roles? Accountability? Ben will be the leader of this project, Gabe will make sure videos get uploaded, and Shane will make sure we get work done and stay on task
Time:
How long do you expect this project to take? We expect this project to take rest of the year
Resources:
List possible resources/sources of inspiration to complete this project.
1. Youtube videos of people doing some of the soccer skills we will learn
2. Pages people made that relate to soccer skills

Are there existing examples of the sort of project you want to complete? Has anyone else done a similar project in Thinkering Studio? What words did you search the wiki for when checking? No one has done this type of project before on the wiki. We used soccer to search for pages.
Who/what will be your "teacher"? (Outside expert, in class expert, book, video(s), website(s), Mr. Whitmer, experimenting, experience, etc.) Make sure your "teacher" is included in your steps. Our teacher will be Ben, F2 freestylers and other youtube videos we find. Also, we need to find a reliable website which has information so we can learn the game.
How will you develop your PLN (personal learning network)? We will develop our PLN in multiple ways. We will discover many different sources of information other than just K2 freestlyers. The three of us will get better at soccer.
Difficulties:
What parts of this project might be difficult? Many things will be difficult. Shane doesn't play soccer often so he will be behind Ben and Gabe, it is cold outside, there could be a lot of snow, and the videos we choose could be very hard. We could also have trouble video taping and learning how to make a quality video. How do you expect to handle them? We will handle them by just grinding through the cold and working hard. We will also practice as much as we need and if we have trouble look at more videos and practice certain skills that might help.
Sharing:
Sharing/Teaching/Paying It Forward - How will you share what you have learned with others? Who is your target audience? Our target audience is other kids about our age. After
Evaluation:
How will you/your group define the projects success? Success for Gabe and Ben is to be able to do everything in 7 f2 freestylers videos while success for Shane is 3 videos. How should we evaluate your success? You can evaluate us by watching our videos. How will that be "visible" to others? (Demonstrate) It will be visible to others since it will be on the wiki. Can your progress be measured throughout the project? Yes it can be since our videos will document our progress.
