Thinkering Studio Project Proposal

Title:
Amy and Erica's Duck Tape Proposal
Member(s):
Amy and Erica
Challenge:
What challenge/goal/question will drive your work? A challenge for us will be to make the duck tape stick evenly and to make it look good. One goal for us would be to make more than one duck tape project and manage to make it look nice. Another goal for us would be to challenge ourselves with making harder and more difficult crafts.
Learning:
What do you expect to learn? I expect us to learn how to become better at duck tape crafts. I also except us to learn how to challenge ourselves more.
How will you be challenged? We will be challenged because we have already made duck tape crafts before so we will have to make more challenging crafts than Amy did before.
How will this stretch you? This will stretch us because we will have learned more about this project and we will have become better at it that we where before. (Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas.)
Materials:
List your materials/resources and who will be providing them. If they need to be purchased, include the price. The only thing we will basically is duck tape and a exacto knife. Colorful duck tape costs about $5-$7. Mr. Whitmer has an exacto knife which we are currently using.
Main Steps:
Outline the main steps to complete your project or provide a link to another site that has the steps. Below the link explain any additional steps you need to complete.
How will you document your process/progress beyond your journal entries?
If this is not an individual project, how will you work together so that all are learning/working equal to their abilities? Roles? Accountability?
  • Our main steps will be to first get our supplies.
  • Then we will be watching videos while we are making the duck tape
  • We will ask other classmates to give us tips/advice for our project
  • For documentation we will be taking pictures along the way.
  • Make another duck tape page to show the documentation of our more difficult crafts.
Time:
How long do you expect this project to take? We are not completely sure but our estimate time is about 4-6 weeks. It may also take less time than that. We are going to continue working on this project through the third quarter. We are probably going to finish this project probably halfway through the third quarter.
Resources:
List possible resources/sources of inspiration to complete this project. Are there existing examples of the sort of project you want to complete? Has anyone else done a similar project in Thinkering Studio? What words did you search the wiki for when checking?Who/what will be your "teacher"? (Outside expert, in class expert, book, video(s), website(s), Mr. Whitmer, experimenting, experience, etc.) Make sure your "teacher" is included in your steps. How will you develop your PLN (personal learning network)?
For our resources we will be watching youtube videos a looking at different types of pictures for ideas. We will also see if Mr. Whitmer has any books our magazines for us to use along the way. We will develop our personal learning network by making more challenging projects than Amy had done before.
Difficulties:
What parts of this project might be difficult? How do you expect to handle them? I think that some of our main difficulties will be to make the duck tape craft look good and neat. We will handle these difficulties by taking our time and following the directions step by step. We will also ask other classmates for help and instruction.
Sharing:
Sharing/Teaching/Paying It Forward - How will you share what you have learned with others? Who is your target audience?
We will share our project by making a page on the wiki with videos and pictures to show what we have done along the way. We have already made a wiki page and plan on making another showing our more challenging crafts.
Evaluation:
How will you/your group define the projects success? How should we evaluate your success? How will that be "visible" to others? (Demonstrate) Can your progress be measured throughout the project?

I think we will define success by us finishing the project and making sure it is neat. We will evaluate our success by looking at other duck tape projects that have been made. Our success will be visible to others because we will make a wiki page. Our progress can be measured throughout the project because we plan on taking pictures each week to show how much progress we have made throughout the entire week. We will define success by working on the project for a long time because that shows patience.
