Challenge Starters & Examples
Learning:
I expect to learn to play guitar and to stretch my learning
I'll be challenged start a new instrument that I've almost never touched
Now we'll be learning more chords and more songs on more strings. Maybe Yankee Doodle, Aura Lee and some other songs.
This'll stretch me to start something new and to try things no matter how hard they are.(Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas.)
Materials:
Guitar, Computer, picks, tuner
Main Steps:
  • We'll use websites provided by Mr. Whitmer to learn
  • We'll take videos of our progress
  • We'll work together by giving each other tips and ideas
  • We could strategize and evaluate(Or the Creative Learning Spiral)
Time:
As long as we feel. A month to learn the beginner stuff.
Resources:
  • Guitar
  • YouTube
  • Videos on Mac
Difficulties:
Difficulties are learning the strategies and getting to learn the basics on the Guitar
The project would fail if we choose to give up on the project.(Conduct a pre-mortem)
Sharing:
Sharing/Teaching/Paying It Forward
  • WE can upload to YouTube or the wiki
  • Our audience is anyone willing to hear
Evaluation:
How will you/your group define the projects success? How will you know that your “good” is “good enough”?
How should we evaluate your success?
How will that be "visible" to others? (Demonstrate) Can your progress be measured throughout the project?
(Look at the Thinkering Studio Rubric for some ideas or possibly Rubistar.)
Design your own rubric.
“What are you making?” “Why are you making this?” and “Who is it for?”
