  • 2014-2015 Q4 DIY Pet Toys
    • Ellie and I have just finished the year with this fun and creative project. I chose to showcase this project because we were being sustainable and thinking outside of the box, by using socks! I had such a great time intricately cutting, tying, and coloring the pet toys. We really targeted all audience members that have pets. And really, these toys could be used for any animal to play with. My favorite part of this project was writing a description for each toy. This proved how each toy could be applied and connected to its user.
  • 2014-2015 Q3 DIY Crafts
    • Currently we are working with Do It Yourself crafts. We have paused making the crafts, because we have become obsessed with making mini-bows. In this we are testing our skills of creativity. Ellie and I are taking a lot of risks. I cannot wait to continue making new and creative ideas. My favorite part of this project is trying out the bows after we have finished them!
  • 2014-2015 Q2 DIY Crafts
    • I chose to highlight this project for two reasons: 1) we just started it, and 2) it involves us making videos. About the videos, their is a special way to circuit them, to grab the viewer's attention. And we have to connect to all audiences, and neither of those tasks are exactly easy. We just finished the phone case, but not the video. I can't wait to start the bow!
  • 2014-2015 Q1 A and E's Crayon Melting Art
    • We were working with crayon melting. I chose to highlight this project because we were doing what so many people did, and we edited the ways to do it. So, we were being really creative with how to make the art, which is really unique with art skills. Ellie and I really enjoyed this project since we had to experiment with new techniques and we learned how to properly mix colors. For this project we were successful because we made two crayon art canvases. So we were each able to take one home and I gifted mine to my grandma. I worked hard and this and I am really happy with what I have learned and what people thought about our art!
  • 2013-2014 Q4 5 Duct Taping Tutorials
    • I like this project because we took a lot of time to do it with effective speed and classy work. We learned from other people, too. But, in order to teach duct taping in our own way Ellie and I took risks. We also tried new methods for making the same duct tape creation.
  • 2013-2014 Q3 Photography and Editing - by Ania and Ellie
    • I chose this project because we tried something new, by investigating the best picture taking modes and we prioritized the quality of our pictures. We made connections with daily life because in the future we ail need to take pictures as memories. That's one reason why we chose this project. And this project can help future students with how to take photos using color lenses, through class, and we are going to add special effects.

Top Reflections:

  • 2014-2015 Q4 "One way I/we received feedback today was ... That feedback showed us that I/we … Ellie and I were having trouble deciding what dog toys we should make. So, one way that we received feedback was by taking a survey of the class. Once we had enough data, that feedback showed us that we were going to make a chewy out of rubber, a ball out of rubber, and a tug-toy out of fabric. That feedback challenged us to find a safe way to use rubber and to extend our knowledge with fabric."
    • I decided to showcase this reflection because Ellie and I used our peers wisely. In this case we took a survey. This reflection is a really smart one! I explained how the feedback challenged us. And that is the most important part of reflecting. Whenever I look back to this reflection I have a clear explanation of what we did. I am so glad that I did this reflection.
  • 2014-2015 Q3 "My/our achievement was affected by ... This caused …Our achievement was affected by finding the right clips to put into our video. Since we made so many it was a haste to go through them all. This caused an idea to spark in my head: I think we should label our videos better so we save time."
    • I chose to highlight this reflection because we always have quite a few tech issues when working with iMovie. But, we are always able to fix the problems with continuous experimenting. Our problem was having too many videos floating around our iMovie album. So, we figured out how to label them better. Since we observe new programs, we noticed that it shows the date on each file. That saved us a lot of time.
  • 2014-2015 Q2 "We had a major breakthrough! Which was making gems with hot glue. They look like smooth crystals! this is how it happened: We accidentally got glue on the table and peeled it off, it looked really good. then we decided to drip glue in hand sanitizer. Those made great quality gems to decorate our canvas."
    • I chose this reflection because it shows how their are no mistakes in art. That day we solved one of our mistakes in a creative way. And I am really glad that I decided to write about it. This shows that I care about my learning through obstacles.
  • 2014-2015 Q1 " We could use the skills and knowledge again in building and engineering. Because if you can be creative and come up with your own ways to build you have a head-start in many future jobs. Creativity is key, you need to be able to use your own brain."
    • I chose this reflection because it shows what I 'took' from my learning. I think this reflection is a really smart one! In this reflection I applied and connected our learning to the future which is a lifelong skill. I hope to do more reflections like this- especially on me and Ellie's failures which would help us learn. I think this reflection sums up what we can take from the Crayon Melting Art project.
  • 2013-2014 Q4 "I/we demonstrated character by helping our peers clean up their HUGE mess (from baking soda volcano), instead of learning how to make a wallet - that will be our homework. I will ask my dad to help upload the videos at home."
    • I chose this reflection because it shows our character - we sacrificed our time for their and the class' sake. We also demonstrated perseverance and care, as in we wanted to do our project. We had trust in our selves so we even wrote it in our reflections.
  • 2013-2014 Q3 "What patterns did you experience/see?...I noticed that making a project is more difficult than it looks. My partner and I found that we had to synthesize with our differences and ideas. In order to upload our video and get through the tech trouble."
    • I decided to showcase this reflection because It was my second reflection ever! I probably thought that everything would be easy. But, when you apply 21st century learning skills and just plain, old hand-eye coordination, it can get difficult. This reflection highlighted some of the skills that I applied and what I am doing to problem solve. Overall, this was my favorite reflections.
